Who Are You Trying to Convert?

We’ve told you before: strangers will support you before your friends and family do.

And it’s true! So many of us launch a business or show up online expecting our inner circle to carry us. But instead, it’s usually strangers who first show up, cheer us on, and engage with our content.

But those strangers? They eventually turn into followers.

Are You Trying to Convert the Right People?

It’s easy to get caught up in the numbers game on social media. More followers. More reach. More eyes. More, more, more. But the real question is… Who are you trying to convert?

The people who are already here, or the ones who haven’t found you yet?

If you’re constantly chasing new followers without ever nurturing the audience you already have, you might be missing the whole point of showing up on social in the first place.

Your Current Followers Are Way Closer to a “Yes”

The people who follow you right now have already said yes once. They’ve invited you into their feed. They’ve read your captions, watched your stories, maybe even shared a post or two. You’re not starting from scratch with them.

So before you pour all your energy into expanding your reach, ask yourself:

  • Am I connecting with the people already watching?

  • Am I making offers they understand?

  • Am I reminding them that I can help them, solve their problem, or bring value to their life?

Nurture > Chase

You don’t need to be viral to be valuable.
You don’t need a massive following to make sales.
You just need to nurture the people already here.

Try this instead of obsessing over reach:

  • Share stories, testimonials, or client wins, real-life results convert.

  • Show your face. Share the “why” behind what you do.

  • Be clear and consistent about how people can work with you or buy from you.

  • Create content that speaks to your current audience, not just imaginary new ones.

  • Use your stories to answer questions, handle objections, and build trust.

Because a follower who already knows you is way closer to a sale than someone who’s never seen your name before.

Growth Isn’t Just About Numbers…
It’s About Connection

Chasing visibility without connection is exhausting. And it rarely leads to real conversions.

But when you focus on deepening the relationship with the people already in your community? That’s where the magic happens.

Don’t get me wrong, I still want you to monitor your reach. It’s an important metric for understanding what content is landing, how far your message is going, and whether you’re putting yourself in front of new people. But reach alone doesn’t pay the bills. Relationships do.

So yes… Reach matters. But relationships matter more.

You don’t always need more people, you need to keep showing up for the ones who are already here.
